Is is possible that the love of photography is in my DNA?  Perhaps.  Photography has been a life-long passion.  When I was very young, I watched with keen interest as my maternal grandfather took photos with his very large camera and flash.  Later I watched as he developed and printed images in his darkroom.  Also, my maternal grandmother's father was a photographer.  Once as my grandmother watched me hand-color some black and white prints she said that she recalled her father doing the same thing.   I am also such a sentimental sap so each moment in time needs to be captured and preserved for the future.

I have been working as a freelance photographer since 2005. As a photographer for the Journal Register Company, my images have appeared in the Boyertown Times, Community Connection, Kutztown Patriot, the Hamburg Item as well as the Pottstown Mercury.  I am especially fond of capturing images of events, sports and of performance arts - dance, music and theater.   In 2007, I was the recipient of a Keystone Press Award for a feature photo. In addition to working as a freelance photographer for Montgomery County Community College and the Reading Eagle, I am the staff photographer for The Hill School.    I also photograph the dance concerts for Franklin & Marshall Dance Department.

As a double major at Lafayette College,  I earned a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Art.  In addition, I have enrolled in additional graphic design and photography classes at Tyler School of Art.  Throughout the years,  I have attended numerous photography workshops and seminars in my quest to perfect my art.

Nature photography is another strong interest - especially macro photography.  Learning about and photographing many local species of butterflies and documenting their life cycles is extremely fascinating to me.  I am not sure if my interest in gardening came first or my interest in butterflies but they are of course connected.  Being an avid gardener, especially as it relates to gardening for wildlife, has resulted in learning about and creating habitats. In 2001, I was honored to receive the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary School Principles Service to Children Award for creating gardens that established an outdoor classroom in the courtyard of a local elementary school. Another courtyard garden, created at a retirement community, received the 2011 Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Community Greening Award. My garden projects focus on the utilization of native plants to attract birds and insects, especially butterflies. In 2005, my photograph of a monarch on goldenrod won first place in the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's 2008 Green Scene photography contest.

My husband, also a Lafayette College alum, and I have two children.  My daughter graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and plans to become a Nurse Practitioner.  My son, an Eagle Scout, is currently a college junior.   My fuzzy companions,  three cats named Lily, Zinnia, and Daisy keep me company now that we have an empty nest.
